Offered online, the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) course is available in basic and advanced modules.
Basic module
Workload: 8h
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles of LCA according to ISO 14040 and ISO 14044
- Understand the applications, potentialities and limitations of LCA;
- Understand all stages of an LCA (Definition of Goal and Scope, Inventory Analysis, Life Cycle Impact Assessment and Interpretation);
- Analyze and interpret the results of an LCA study;
- Learn about the available tools (software and databases) and their applications.
Advanced module
Workload: 14h
The advanced module includes all the content of the basic module together with the use of SimaPro software (desktop version). At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Know the main features of the SimaPro software;
- Understand how to model multifunctional processes and different end-of-life scenarios;
- Understand the use of inventory databases;
- Obtain results according to different life cycle impact assessment methods;
- Learn how to use SimaPro's interpretation resources to achieve study objectives;
- Apply the functions of the SimaPro software in practical case study exercises.
