The GHG emissions inventory is the instrument that quantifies emissions and removals of greenhouse gases (GHG) from various sources, including energy consumption, industrial processes, transport and waste. By accurately and systematically measuring these emissions, companies can identify the main sources of GHG in their operations and adopt strategies to reduce them.

The GHG Protocol is the framework most used by companies and other organizations to measure, manage and report GHG emissions, being compatible with the ISO 14.064 standard and the quantification methods of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). A well-structured and managed GHG inventory allows participation in voluntary and mandatory GHG emissions reporting programs and in GHG markets.
